Hunters

They loaded up the trucks and

had their weapons ready

(they thought)

but misinterpreted the prey.

They were wrong about their weapons, too;

the ammunition,

faultily provisioned.

Squibs, blanks--and the

spoor

was that of a constipated

predator.

When brought to bay

(as they say)

the hunted were ready

to rip.

To claw.

To bite.

The hunters expected a hunt,

not a fight.

Could this be some analogy?

Yeah,

I guess it might.
